Michael Rouchell -- who earned both his Master and Bachelor of Architecture from Tulane -- wants to contribute to the notorious architecture history of New Orleans. A versatile architect whose work includes commercial projects such as the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Walgreens at 5518 Magazine Street, numerous residential projects along St. Charles Avenue, and institutional projects like the Newcomb Art School expansion (which was completed with his previous firm), Michael designs traditional buildings that fit within historic neighborhoods. His approach to his adaptive work involves restoring missing architectural components and ensuring his new work fits seamlessly with the existing structure.

This mindful and respectful attitude extends to Michael’s client engagement. Michael seeks to bring the client into his design and thought process as much as possible, ensuring the client’s familiarity with the project is as deep as his own. Whether it is honoring the original architect’s intent during an adaptive reuse project or working closely to achieve a client’s needs, Michael wants to serve what any given project needs.
