Williams Architects was commissioned by a private developer for this renovation/new construction project of artists’ residences. The scope of work included a tax credit application specifically for Historic and Low-Income Housing Tax credits, plans, elevations, and construction administration for the renovation of two historic buildings and the new construction of a three-story building.

Located in the Warehouse District of downtown New Orleans and once a shipping supply operation, the structure was repurposed to accommodate 37 loft units, and the new building constructed to provide 24 units. These units, along with a community center and off-street parking, serve as low-income housing for artists. The project was designed to meet the requirements of the State Historic Preservation Office, the Historic District Landmark Commission and the Louisiana Housing Finance Authority. The cost was largely offset by the tax credits that Williams Architects helped secure. For further information on this project please email info@williamsarchitects.com.
